Positional Plagiocephaly: Part VII

Part I | Part 1.5 | Part II | Part III | Part IV | Part V | Part VI

Palmer has now had her Starband Cranial Helmet for 4 weeks and to our surprise, we have already noticed a huge difference in the shape of her skull!

As you can see, there is a very noticeable difference in the flat spot from one picture to another. I didn't take a picture of the before closer to the date of getting her helmet but this picture from June is very close to what it would have looked like.
We are so glad we chose to get the helmet. In such a short amount of time, the changes we have already seen  makes it all worth it! It helps a lot too that Palmer is completely oblivious to the helmet (or so it seems). She acts as if its not even there! She doesn't fuss about it at all. Takes it like a champ!
This is the first of 2 sets of decals we have for the helmet! I love them! They are so cute!

We even "bling" the band out with flowers!
Unlike some of our first experiences and interactions with different people about the helmet, we are now getting lots of comments about how cute she is or how the helmet is a "miracle" that was able to help out children they know or comments on the stickers (I think the "Just fixin my melon" is self explanatory to some people so they don't ask and just tell us how cute she is!)

There are a few spots that still need to be reshaped, and I know with time we will get them all worked out, but so far, we are so happy with the results we are getting! We really are happy that we chose to get the helmet!

9 months: Palmer's Life

I can hardly believe that it has been 9 months. Time is moving in warp speed!! I am just in awe when I think of all the things that have happened in the past 9 months.

She seriously couldn't sit still long enough for a photo!
New Skills and Developments:
1. Palmer is showing understanding of different words we say, which is so exciting. I can tell she is learning everyday. She can make "kisses"  and she will show you how big she is when asked.

2. She is able to pull herself to standing now. Palmer is getting really good at pulling herself up from the floor and sometimes, she can get from one side of the couch to the other. It won't be long now before she is cruising all over the place.
3. Palmer now has 5 teeth. 2 bottom ones and 3 on the top. And like before, she took it all like a champ. The worst she had was a snotty nose and a rash (which I'll take over a fussy non-sleeping baby any day!!)
4. Palmer has now had her starband helmet for 4 weeks now and we have already noticed a huge difference (I'll post a update soon).
5. Babbling up a storm! Although there have been no real words, we are certainly getting very, very close to some!! It was like all of a sudden, yesterday she just flipped a switch and is making all sorts of new sounds!

6. Palmer loves to watch the bath tub fill up. maybe because she knows she'll soon be getting in the water? Nonetheless, she loves it!

Palmer's Favourites:
1. oranges
2. puffs (and anything else she can feed herself)
3. swimming and splashing
4. books. Whether she's being read to or just holding it herself and looking at the pictures, Palmer has taken a liking to books (which is awesome!)

Palmer's Dislikes:
- She is still a little squirmer when it comes to diaper changes and getting dressed.
- getting her teeth brushed
- having her nose wiped or face washed

Thoughts:
I am getting excited to see what is next to come. It seems like every day Palmer is hitting a new milestone. Walking. Talking. So much more fun things ahead. In one way, I am sad my baby isn't too much of a baby anymore, but on the other hand, I am loving the little person she is growing into and can't wait to see more!!!

Weekend Wrap-Up (on Tuesday) and Palmer's Playroom

Like the past several Thanksgiving weekend, we headed down to Whitefish, MT to spend some time shopping, golfing (Mitch) and getting away for a few days.

We were lucky enough to get to spend a couple days with my mom before we started our mini-vacay and lucky to have her spend the weekend here dog-sitting for us! AND, we came home to some delicious
 turkey dinner (my favorite!!).

||Friday||
Friday we made the drive down to Whitefish. As much as I don't enjoy riding in the truck for so long, the drive really is beautiful!  I tried to capture some pictures, but attempting to take photos while riding in a truck is difficult!

||Saturday|| & ||Sunday||
The girls spent the days shopping and touring Whitefish and Kalispell while the boys did their golfing.

||Monday||
We made a quick trip to Kalispell for some speed shopping then had to start the drive back home as I had to work at 3pm. Like Palmer, I too was worn out after the weekend!

Palmer's Playroom
While in Whitefish, we were able to pick up a few things we needed to make Palmer's Playroom a little more kid-friendly.

curtains | floor mats

Now, I just have a few more items to arrange in the playroom before it will be "complete"

5 on Friday

It's been a couple weeks since I last linked up for 5 on Friday (I was on the night shift at work last week!!!), so I'm linking up this week to share my 5 thoughts!

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

I had all week off this week, and it was super! Although being back to work hasn't been terrible, it certainly is nice to be able to be home with Mitchell and Palmer for a few days and spend some time as a family.

We are heading to Whitefish, MT this weekend for some golf/shopping/vacation time. We go to Whitefish every year for Canadian Thanksgiving because Mitchell plays in a golf tournament. This will be the first year with Palmer. I really enjoy going to Whitefish. It is such a beautiful place.

Palmer has cut 2 new teeth this week: her top right and the on to the right of that one. Hopefully the left side grows in quickly so she doesn't look like a snaggle tooth!

With fall in full swing not, I have been wanting to decorate the house more for fall, but with all this working of nights I have been doing, this is as far as I have gotten. Hopefully I can get some more decor ASAP! Maybe our trip to Whitefish will bring me some items to use!

I am trying to track down a mini pink Toronto Maple Leaf jersey for Palmer for this hockey season. It's proving to be a little more difficult (and expensive) than I thought.
